Why gold?

This graph shows the difference between the value of gold and the value of money from 1932 to today (2010). I also read an article a few weeks ago that talked about something interesting . Unfortunately I lost the link to the article but I’ll explain it as best I can.
  • The cost in 1940 for a suit (complete) : jacket , tie , pants , shoes and shirt was about $5 or 1 ounce of pure gold.
  • The cost today for a suit (complete) : jacket , tie , pants , shoes and shirt is about $1300 or 1 ounce of pure gold.
The fact is that today, an ounce of gold buys the same thing it used to buy 70 years before! It’s different for money. I really like that comparison. It explains well the graph above and demonstrates the difference in values between gold and money.

This graph shows the price (value) of gold over a period of 9 years ( from 2004 to 2013. Indeed , the value fluctuates. This is normal and it is not that bad when you think KaratBars sells gold at the market price ;-)! You should also be aware that precious metals are exhaustible resources. There will be one day or another we will be short on gold. Experts say that within 20 years it will get way much harder to harvest gold.
We can not predict the future, however, I believe that gold investment is viable and much safer than the banks you’re doing business with!

KaratBars compensation plan

I give you a small series of four videos on gold and silver. Something you have to watch when you have some free time!
